The Hanling-Pianling strike-slip fault zone is an important fault zone of the east of Liaoning, and a secondary fault at the east wall of the Tan-Lu fault zone in China. The fault zone controls the geological body distribution in the Anshan-Benxi region. Through the study of the extension, transcurrent features, subordinate structure and drag structure, direction, breadth and time of displacement, fault tail and dynamical evolution of the strike-slip fault, the authors suggest that the fault activity occurred from the Late Triassic to the Early Cretaceous and was most active at the Late Jurassic-Early Cretaceous, with intense magmatism, volcanism, and sedimentation of continental facies. The strike-slip fault is about 130 km long; the largest displacement reaches 31km in the middle; and at the two ends, the displacements are getting less. The fault shows a left-lateral displacement at the active time. The structure formation is a result of the interaction among the Eurasian plate, the Izanagi plate and Pacific plate.
