Preparation of Al-Ti Alloy by Electrolysing TiO_2 in Aluminium Bath

摘要 采用工业铝电解质体系,在Na3AlF6 Al2O3中加入TiO2,在熔融状态下电解,直接得到Al Ti合金·利用扫描电镜对产物的形貌和化学成分做了分析,结果表明实验可行,合金中Ti的质量分数可达到9%以上,超过已往文献报道·而且Ti与Al以化合物的形式存在·此类产品可作为母合金使用·对熔盐电解法制备Al Ti合金的机理作了初步探讨,认为与Al Si合金的形成具有相似的机理:Al还原了TiO2中的金属Ti,与预先放置的铝(阴极)构成Al Ti合金;Ti与Al同时在阴极析出,形成Al Ti合金·保持一定的条件,电解能够始终进行· Al-Ti alloys were produced by molten salt electrolysis using the molten Na_3AlF_6-Al_2O_3 system as electrolyte with TiO_2 added to it. The morphology and chemical composition of such products were analysed using SEM. The results indicated that the Ti-mass fraction in alloys can be over 9% which exceeds that had been reported by earlier works. The morphological observation showed that Al and Ti exist in form of compounds. Such products can be used as master alloys. The mechanism of preparing Al-Ti alloys by molten salt electrolysis was discussed and regarded as similar to Al-Si alloy formation, because TiO_2 is reduced by Al and both Ti and Al are precipitated simultaneously on cathode. So, keeping certain conditions constant will enable the whole electrolysis process to end up.
