The Literary Form of Contemporary Novel: Change and development

20世纪初以来的中国现代、当代小说文体发生了重大的变化和发展,特别是80年代以来小说文体的变化,已成为当代作家寻求艺术创新和探索的突破口。近20年的小说文体探索使当代中国作家的生活积累、现实感悟、生命情感体验在变化、发展而丰富的文体形式中获得了更趋完美的表现。中国作家意识到了小说文体创造的本质力量,也标示出文学作为意识形态生产的一种方式的特性,从而使小说写作达到了更为理想的审美高度。

Great changes and development have taken place in literary forms of modern and contemporary Chinese novels since the beginning of the 20th century, especially in the 1980s when the change of literary form was a breaking through for contemporary writers to seek after artistic creation and exploration. With the last 20 years' exploration, Chinese writers' understanding of the reality, their life experiences and emotions have been perfectly expressed in novel which is such a rich, various and changing literary form. Chinese writers are aware of the great creativity of this literary form, novel and they also understand that literature is an expressive form of ideological production. Such understanding enables writers to see novel writing ideally as the highest level of aesthetic appreciation.
