This dissertation reviews the history of writing The History of Japanese Literature in Chinese, analyses the characteristics of The History of Japanese Literature(four volumes), written by Ye Weiqu and Tang Yuemei. This work sets up a milestone for Writing general history of Japanese literature in Chinese and lays a solid foundation stone for scholars in the future.
