Current FPGA design methodologies treat the FPGA as a single component. Thesemethodologies do not scale efficiently when dealing with the complexities encountered whenbringing a processor into the FPGA with the intention of implementing an entire embeddedsystem inside the programmable device. This paper will outline the design challenges thatmust be solved to deliver such a system.
