This paper introduces the concept and components of a VAX/ VMS device driver and discusses problems relating designing and realizing the driver. Taking the collecting and monitoring system as background, this paper describes the design and realization of a rapid and special-purpose driver, with which the parallel and direct-memory-access data interface (DRV11-WA) connects the data acquisition device NEFF to VAX.
