In English, in order to make a sentence brief and coherent, some words and phrases, sometimes even the main clause or the subordinate clause, can be omitted without changing the meaning of the sentence. This kind of omission is called ELLIPSIS. In adverbial clauses with time, adverbial clauses of manner, and adverbial clauses of comparison, the subjects or parts of the predicate (especially the verb 'be' of the subordinate clauses) can be omitted in the condition that (1) the verb 'be') is included in the predicate, (2) the subject of the subordinate clauses is the same as that of the main clauses, (3) or the subject of the main clauses is 'it' or 'they'.
