The Renouncement of the"Dual Nationality":a Breakthrough in the Development of the Diplomatic Relations of Good Neighborhood Between China and Indonesia

This paper reviews the historical development of the dual nationality issue among oversea Chinese in Indonesia and mainly reveals the diplomatic background of howthe newly established China dealt with the issue.The paper argues that the renouncement of the dual nationality by oversea Chinese there was a significant move insofar as the diplomatic strategic adjustment was concerned and the decision could not be made until some key factors were taken into consideration such as the security enˉvironment among neighbors and national interests.It also discusses the significance of how the solution to this problem helped China promote diplomatic relations of good neighborhood with Indonesia.
