By a survey of 800 12 16 old secondary school students and their parents, the authors compared and contrasted the coping style and psychological health status of the adolescents with those of their parents. The results suggest that 1. The coping style of the students is not so active and mature as their patents', and their psychological status is also less healthy than the adults'; 2. The coping style of the young and their parents appear homogeneous, and the young learn the coping style mostly by observing and imitating their parents; 3. 'Rationalization' should be an immature coping style.
