摘要
The Yaofangtou site lies in the southern suburb of Dingzhou City, Hebei Province, on the plain at the eastern foot of the Taihang Mountains. A trial excavation, carried out there in 1998, revealed Bronze Age cultural remains of the time corresponding to the Xia period, including mainly button-shaped bronze ornaments and pottery li tripods, yah steamers, jars, basins, urns and dou stemmed vessels. The site is rather close to the Xiaqiyuan culture in southern Hebei not only in cultural aspect, but also in date. Meanwhile, it possesses strong regional features of its own and contains some elements of Lower Xiajiadian culture from the north and those of Yueshi culture from the east.
