This paper tries to study the essential meaning on the leadership in the etymology of Chinese chatacers. In Chinese chatacers, leadership is comprised by ling(nect) and dao(guide). It means ling(nect)would be a more important factor than head. As to dao(its comlex form is combination of road and hand),it just like English word lead and its cognate (loade),and means guiding. Dao has relation with road radically, and then it conforms to Taoism, and also to the concept of Wuwei(inaction).
