摘要
“文”“质”之争贯穿于我国古代佛经翻译始终。本文探究了争论产生的原因 ,并从“文”“质”之争说开来 ,指出“直译”与“意译”并无本质区别 ,至今也尚无明确界定 ,但争论蕴涵着一个由繁至简、由粗到精、由低到高的发展脉络。争论有利于翻译事业的繁荣昌盛 ,有利于翻译理论的日臻完善。
The arguments between literal translation and free translation have run through the translation of acient buddhist scripture. Beginning with the dispute, this article analyzes the causes of arguments and suggests there is still no perfect criterion between these two. However, the arguments which reflect the proceeding history about the researches on translation theories in China, will consequently contribute to the prosperity of Chinese translation and maturity of translation theories.
