摘要
鉴于《出事了》是海勒从人们的内心世界审视美国当代社会问题的杰作,本文从深思练达的美国社会病批判、精细入微的扭曲人际关系洞察、鞭辟入里的精神困境展示这三个方面,探讨了该长篇小说的精髓。文章认为,海勒的这部小说淋漓尽致地描述了美国社会危机及精神危机,不啻一首走向没落的帝国的哀曲。
In view of the fact that Something Happened exposes the social problems of contemporary America by exploring people's innermost minds, this article approaches this novel from three aspects: the clearheaded and thoughtful criticism of the social diseases, the thorough and insightful observation of the distorted relationship between people, and the cutting and truthful revelation of the spiritual distress. The article points out that by describing in depths the social and spiritual crises of the U.S., this novel is almost an elegy for the declining empire.
