Australia: from a monolingual society to a multilingual society

澳大利亚建立初时 ,政府就一直试图推行单一文化和单语政策。随着大量非英国种族移民的涌入 ,政府不得不推行同化政策。而越来越多的移民问题和社会矛盾 。

From the founding of the nation,Australian governments had tried to pursue a monocultural and monolingual policy. With a lot of migrants of non-British origin coming,the government had to shift its policy to assimilation. The government wished all the new Australians to speak English and accept traditional Australian culture. More and more migrant problems and social contradictions made the long-pursued monocultural and monolingual policy end.
