A Comparative Study of the Narrative Strategies Between Ceremony and A Dream of Red Mansions

Ceremony,as one of the Indian literature masterpieces, is a representative work of the multicultural novels. This novel has much in common with the Chinese classic A Dream of Red Mansions in that they share some similar narrative techniques, such as the narrative framework, the multiple plot and the multi-narrative levels. A comparative study of the narrative techniques employed in both novels will not only shed new light on the structure of the Chinese classic but also provide a new perspective on the American-Indian masterpiece so as to further our understanding of the Indian story-telling tradition.
