摘要 艺术史论在袁运甫这样一位有突出成就的艺术家的全部实践中居于重要地位。这正是他“有容乃大”的虚心态度所带来的丰富的精神成果。从张光宇先生手中接过“大美术”旗帜的袁运甫从纯艺术的爱好开始 ,将其创作与教学实践落脚在与人民生活联系最紧密、最广泛的社会需要上———这种需要既是物质的 ,更是精神的———因而 ,他重视装饰艺术 ,涉足实用美术和现代设计的各个方面 ,并且将大美术观的实践和艺术教育、当今科学技术的发展及人文精神的思考、东西方文化的交流与碰撞紧密联系在一起。 Thought on the history of art occupies an important place in the whole practice of a remarkable artist, Yuan Yunfu. And it is the very modesty 'Tolerance Is Agreeable' that brings about such abundant spiritual achievements. Professor Yuan who took the stand 'Macro-arts'over from Zhang Guanning first had 'pure arts' as a hobby, laying the emphasis of his writing and teaching on the widest social demand, which also has a closest connection with people's life. Normally, this kind of demand is both material and spiritual. Therefore, he pays more attention to decorative arts and sets foot in practical arts and various sides of modern designing; moreover, he closely integrates the practice of the theory 'Macro-arts' with artistic education, the development of recent science and technology, the thought on humane spirits and the communication and conflict between eastern culture and western culture, which thus displays a vast strategic field of vision.
