金庸先生的一个理论失误

A Theoretical Error of Jin Rong

金庸先生说 :“中国近代新文学的小说 ,其实是和中国的文学传统相当脱节的 ,很难说是中国小说 ,无论是巴金、茅盾或鲁迅所写的 ,其实都是用中文写的外国小说。”又说 :“武侠小说才是中国形式的小说……继承了中国小说的传统。”金庸先生这段高论如果成立 ,巴金、茅盾、鲁迅都要被赶出中国文学史 ,“中国近代新文学的小说” ,都将变成外国小说 ,一部中国新文学史也就变成一部武侠小说史了。金庸先生的失误一是混淆了借鉴和创造的关系 ,二是狭隘地看待中国文学传统 。

Jin Rong says 'The fiction in Chinese modern times, out of line with Chinese literature tradition, can hardly be Chinese fiction. Whether it is produced by Ba Jin, Mao Dun or Lu Xun, it is actually foreign fiction just written in Chinese.' And he also holds that warrior fiction is in Chinese fiction form because it succeeds the tradition of Chinese fiction.' If the theory above were correct, Ba Jin, Mao Dun and Lu Xun would be driven out of the history of Chinese literature. And 'the fiction of new literature in Chinese modern times 'would become foreign fiction; the history of Chinese new literature would become a history of warrior fiction. The error lies in his mistaking the concept of 'borrowing' for that of 'creation', his parochial view on Chinese literature tradition, lack of nerve to face squarely the impasse of the warrior fiction.
