Advantages and Disadvantages of the Regional Features of Shaanxi Writers

陕西有陕北黄土高原、关中平原、陕南山地三大地理板块,鲜明的地域文化色彩形成三种不同的创作风格,关中文学有鲜明的儒家文化色彩,陕南文学富有南国情韵,陕北文学更具有顽强的生命力。地域性是陕西作家的特色所在,同时也存在缺陷,他们的思想意识还停留在农村,对代表着先进文明的城市几乎没有涉及,城市文学的缺憾使陕西文学几近半肢瘫痪。

Shaanxi is geographically divided into three big regions: the northern loess plateau, the central plain and the southern mountain area. Distinctive regional cultures result in distinctive literary styles: the sharp Confucianist cultural flavour of literature of the central plain, the South China literary style of literature of the southern mountain area and the indomitable vitality of literature of the northern loess plateau. Regional features are advantages of Shaanxi writers as well as their disadvantages. Shaanxi writers' ideology is confined to countryside and their literary works involve almost nothing about civilization of big cities. Lack of urban literature leads to the paralysis of Shaanxi literature.
