本文旨在介绍隐喻在国外英语界的研究动态、发展过程及隐喻的研究对象。并通过分析隐喻的定义、基本功能及理论 ,解释为什么隐喻的研究对象如此广博 ,并成为跨学科研究的对象。

This paper introduces the current situation of metaphor in the English language studies circles abroad, and the wide range of subject matters of metaphor study. By analyzing the various definitions, the basic functions and some of the preliminary theories of metaphor, it explained why metaphor could be approached from such wide disciplines.
