E-C translation and inner forms of loan words

借用外来词语是一种语言与异质文化交往时不可避免的普遍现象。汉语主要通过音译、意译、音意译结合和英汉夹杂等四种方式向英语借用词语。由这些方式借入的外来词的内部形式分别表现为 :内部形式的消失和附会 ;内部形式的移植 ;内部形式的残存和羡余 ;内部形式的残存、羡余和消失。

Loan words arise inevitably when one nation is conducting cultural exchanges with the others. The English words, borrowed by the Chinese language, mainly result from the four methods of translation: transliteration, free translation, combination of the above two, and mixture of both English and Chinese languages. Accordingly, the four categories of loan words, in terms of their inner forms, are characterized respectively by disappearance and false analogy, reproduction, survival and indispensable redundancy, and survival, indispensable redundancy and disappearance.
