沃尔夫假说的“言外行为”与“言后行为”

Illocutionary and perlocutionary acts of the Whorfian Hypothesis,

本文以JohnAustin的言语行为三分说为理论框架 ,考察和阐释“沃尔夫假说”。该假说的“言中行为”是 :语言不同的人思维模式亦不同 ,难以相互理解 ;“言外行为”是 :唤醒人们对语言和思维差异的认识 ,从而达到民族之间的相互理解 ;“言后行为”是 :在验证“言中行为”正确性的过程中 ,人们对本民族中心主义有了认识和反省 ,文化一元主义逐渐被多元主义取代。

John Austin's theory of Speech Acts is used as a theoretical framework to reinterpret the controversial Whorfian Hypothesis. While the locutionary act of the Hypothesis highlights linguistic and cultural differences, hence difficulty in cross_cultural understanding, the illocutionary act is to awaken people's cross_cultural awareness so as to enhance cross_cultural understanding. The perlocutionary act is paradoxical: in the process of empirically testifying the truth_value of the Hypothesis, ethnocentrism has been brought under critical reflection, and cross_cultural understanding has been enhanced.
