本文对英语中的A and B is X的表达方式如Guests and fish stink in three days等的隐喻本质特征和意义类型进行了分析。作者还从与类比、轭式搭配等修辞手法比较的角度探讨了该句式的特征和修辞效果。
This paper attempts an analysis of metaphorical nature and types of meanings of A and B is X expressions such as “guests and fish stink in three days” in English. Besides, the paper makes an inquiry into the features and rhetorical effect of the expression in comparison with such figures as analogy and zeugma or syllepsis.
