Syntactic and Semantic Features of Double Modals

本文运用句法学与语义学有关理论讨论存在于英语本族人话语中的双重情态动词的结构呈现、疑问构成、否定构成等六个方面的句法特征以及特征核查、选择限制、语词意义、真值性等七个方面的语义特征。文章着重分析它们的内在规律与演变原理，指出它们在句法与语义上特有的表征。

This paper makes an application of syntactic theory and semantic theory to the discussion about double modals in English dialects. It explores their syntactic features (e.g. the structual representation, the interrogative, the negative, etc.) and their semantic features (e.g. feature_checking, selection restriction, meaning, truth value, etc.), concentrating on their embedding regulurities, the relevant properties in their structual change and their particular features in syntax and semantics.
