A Gold Ring Inlaid with a Blue Gem from Xu Xianxiu's Tomb of the Northern Qi

太原市在近几年内，已有两项重要考古发现：一是1999年发现的隋代虞弘墓，二是2000～2002年发掘的北齐徐显秀壁画墓。后者壁画和随葬品中醒目的西方文化因素，再次引起研究丝绸之路学者的关注以及对北朝和隋唐晋阳的重视。

The ring was found in the decayed coffin, evidently a body ornament of the tomb occupant Xu Xianxiu . The ring bears exotic human figures and animals, most probably brought to the Central Plains by some Sogdian merchant. In cooperation with the foreign motif and alien figures in the mural . the ting sheds new light on the then cultural exchange between China and the Western Territories and in particular on what went on along the Silk Road.
