Turquoise was a traditional material of the jade kind in ancient China. Turquoise ornaments were made and used as early as the Neolithic Peiligang culture. Neolithic turquoise artifacts have so far been discovered in a large number, but they have not drawn enough attention up to the present.Based on archaeological data, the present paper analyzes and summarizes the distinctive features, distribution, main discoveries, stage-marking changes, major types, uses and making techniques of turquoise artifacts in Neolithic China.
