Japan's Continued Economic Stagnation and Its Prospects

“泡沫经济”破灭后,日本经济进入战后最长的调整期。此间经济增长乏力,民间需求极度萎缩,通货紧缩状况严重,财政状况空前恶化,金融市场动荡不安。日本经济持续萧条的主要原因一方面是“泡沫经济”破灭的负面影响所致,但最重要的是现有经济体制严重束缚了日本经济的正常运转。由于这一体制存在的问题根深蒂固,日本经济面临的外部环境也难能出现根本性改观。因此,日本经济要步入真正恢复的轨道尚需时日。

Japan' s economy has witnessed the longest period of economic readjustment after World War Two since the burst of the bubble economy marked with economic slowdown, decreased demand of consumption, serious deflation, deteriorating fiscal situation and turbulent financial market. The continuous stagnation of Japan's economy was mainly due to negative impact of burst of 'the bubble economy . But the major cause was Japan's current economic system, which has hampered the proper operation of Japan s economy. As the problems in Japan's economic system are deep-rooted, and Japan' s external economic environment would not change fundamentally, it would take a long time for Japan's economy to come back to the right track of growth.
