摘要
宋元时代，文人画兴起山水画大兴，人物画相对减少。明代绘画总体上承接宋、元传统，山水画、花鸟画方面流派纷出，各成体系。成就显著，人物画也呈山水画逐渐衰微之势人们是画山水之余，偶尔为之了。正如万历年问谢肇制的《五杂俎》中所言：“今人画以意趣为宗，不复画人物及故事。”明代人物画总体上落后于山水画．花鸟画。
