An analysis of the heraine of Effi Briest: Effi was a pure and active girl before marriage, but she became depressed after marriage when she lived according to her husband's wishes and the social norm,and eventually died a victim of the social norm.The tragedy of Effi's marriage reflects the conflict between individual needs and social morals, exposing the nature of German society and its coldness and vanity in the 19th century.
