"Yi Chang Dai Cun" (Integrating Village with Company) and Rural Development

本文通过对“以厂带村”制度的案例分析 ,从一个侧面说明了处于转型期的我国农村制度选择的丰富内容及其对农村社区发展的重要影响 ,展示了我国农村发展在基层层面上广阔的现实空间。

This paper introduces a new rural development approach (model) of 'Yi Chang Dai Cun' (Integrating Village with Company) in the grass-root level based on a village case study from central China. The major reasons of emergence, contents, the industrial base and the organizational foundation of the new institution have been discussed, while some of the important impacts from such institutional creation to rural development has also been analyzed in the paper. The study shows clearly the importance of path-dependency, tacit knowledge and local culture to promoting current rural development in China. One of the significant implications from this research is that modernization can be very much likely achieved through appropriate institutional arrangements of integrating traditional skills and technologies, informal institutions with modern factors in rural China.
