Listening is one of the basic skills for the language learners to master.More and more emphases are being laid on the teaching of English listening.It proves effective to teach students by introducing background knowledge,stimulating and cultivating the students' predicting abilities,organizing student-centered listening and speaking activities and combining listening and reading by putting reading first.
