Achievements and Defects of Chinese Logic in the 20th Century

二十世纪是中国逻辑史发展的重要时期,系统的逻辑学理论走过了从隐到显或从无到有的过程。就成就方面言,中国学者逻辑观逐步丰富,形式逻辑意识复苏,对逻辑方法的重视程度大大提高。从不足方面看,过多地关注逻辑学的工具价值甚至不适当地拔高到了哲学方法论的高度,而对逻辑学的目的价值(或日内在价值)有所忽视,教育管理机构及学界对逻辑学的重视程度有待提高。这些不足从内在机制上限制了中国逻辑学在二十一世纪的发展。

The 20th century was an important era of Chinese Logic developing. Systematic theories of Chinese Logic developed from the indistinct to the distinct and from the nonexistent to the existent. As far as its achievements are concerned, the concepts and notions of Chinese scholars were gradually enriched, their formalistic logical consciousness re-lived, and they attached greatly more importance to logical methods. As to defects, too much attention was paid to the implemental value of Logic, which was inappropriately elevated to the height of philosophic methodology, while neglecting the teleological value, or inner value, and the academia and educational organs were expected to attach more importance to Logic. All that hindered the development of Chinese Logic in the 20th century.
