元散曲中很多作品以前代文人为吟咏对象。有些文人被元曲家们反复咏叹,比如王粲、白居易、屈原、陶渊明、 刘伶、王子猷等。元代文人的特殊处境是元曲家们青睐这些文人的主要原因。从这些吟咏中不仅可以透视元代文人 生存的社会环境,也可以体认元代文人心态,从而更深刻地理解元代知识分子的悲剧命运。

Many verses in Non-dramatic songs in Yuan Dynasty are based on the former literati, especially Bai juyi, QuYuan, Tao Yuanming, LiuLing, Wang Ziyou. As a result of the special status , the songs composers in Yuan Dynasty favoured the very literati. In these verses, not only can we learn the social backgrounds of the intellectuals in Yuan Dynasty, but also their psychology rand tragedy destiny.
