明清以来 ,市井青楼的女子多有擅演昆曲者 ,尤其是在江南 ,这种情形十分普遍。市井青楼虽非戏班 ,但它却在许多情况下发挥着戏班的功能。因此 ,市井青楼也成为昆曲的一支特殊表演队伍。

Since Ming and Qing dynasties, many prostitutes in pleasure quarters of city were good at performing Kunqu, which was especially popular in the south of Changjiang River.
