A Comparison Between Confucius and Mencius Ethics

孔子和孟子在道德起源、理想的道德人格和道德修养等方面既有相同的地方,也存在着明显的差异。可以说,孔子的道德学说为孟子的道德学说的阐发提供了理论原型,而孟子的道德学说则极大地发展和丰富了孔子的道德学说。两者之间的差异反映了儒家道德学说的发展演变。

Both Confucius & Mencius had paid enough attention to the study and dispute of ethic problems.They both shared similarities and differences in origin of moral study,ideal morality and personality and its cultivation.It is universally acknowledged that Confucius theory provided a good prototype of Mencius moral system and Mencius point of view had also greatly riched and developed Confucius treasury,whose dissimilarities just show the evolution and advancement of the Confucian School.
