A Computer Aided Process Planning System Based on Web and XML

A Computer Aided Process Planning (CAPP) system based on Web and XML is described in the paper. Some key technologies of the system are discussed such as the framework and the information flow of the system, the XML-based process files representation, the operations on the XML-based process files by process rules and how to deal with XML files on the client. In the Web environment, exchanging data with XML between browser and server can meet enterprises'needs of process planning. It not only promotes the performance of the system but also solves some problems of developing application systems based on B/S model.
