本文从人类学的角度探究近代体育在工业社会诞生的生物学本源。人类在进化为直立行走后，所发生的人体形态结构的变化，为体育性质的身体活动奠定了生物学的基础。人类在全面发展的过程中为弥补自己的生物性缺陷，萌生了对体育活动的主观需求。在工业经济过细的社会分工严重损害人类身心健康的特定条件下，近代体育得以诞生。
