This paper introduceo the in-situ shear strength test of weakness plane,which was done by the author at the south slope of the open pit in lan-Jian Iron Mine.The methods ,the technigues and the results of the test are introduced in the paper.Apart form this, some fairly reliable indexes of shear strength were obtained,with the analysis of test data described geologically.So the basis in which the analysis of the stability of the slope lies is provided.In addition,the dissension upon the difference among the results of the single friction test and the multiple shear test are introduced.The comcluson is that single friction strength is weaker than residual strength being advancded.
