On the concept of three generations of central leading collectives, Deng Xiaoping has put forward quite a few new ideas and propositions: the division of the central leading collectives by the concept of 'generation'; the division criterion; the description of the forming process of the first two collectives and the evaluation of their merits and demerits; the emphasis of the importance of having a key person as the core within the collective. These new ideas and propositions have guiding significance in the study of the CPC history.
