The Structure Parallelism of Chinese Verbal Coordinate Structure

Structure parallelism is a dominant feature for Chinese verbal coordinate structure. This paper demonstrates the feature in detail. Verbal coordinate structures don't show complete paral- lelism in modifier-head construction but show parallelism in head-complement construction and specifi- er-head construction. A verb phrase can be described with the complex feature structure including two features: construction and syllables, and construction again has two values: head-complement and specifier-head. For any given verb phrases, if one of the two features is identical and then they can be coordinated. The structure parallelism will be of great help to the boundary automatic bracketing of the coordinate structures.
