李士群是“清乡运动”的主要谋划者与核心人物。其得力的措施使该运动收到了明显的成效。李士群在“清乡”中急剧膨胀的势力与强烈的离心倾向 ,严重威胁了日本“国策” ,这是其致死的根本原因 ,他的死也与日军内部派系斗争以及与周佛海的权力斗争有关。所谓死于军统反间计之说实属夸大之辞 。

Li Shi-qun was the mai n planner and the core of the QingXiang movement.Because he adopted effective me asures to improve the work,the QingXiang movement made a good progress.The main cause of his death was that the expansio n of his authority and the tendency of i ndependency threaten the Japanese policy .His death had something to do with the inner struggle of the Japanese troops an d his own struggle with Zhou Fuhai also. It was unbelievable that Li Shiqun was m urdered by the JunTong through tricks,be cause this opinion ignored the antagonis tic contradictions among them.
