On the Methods for Studying Traditional Chinese Philosophy

哲学是哲学史的总结,哲学史是哲学的展开。这可以从哲学研究过程中理解和解释与先见的关系得到说明。对中国哲学的研究,必须史论结合。无论是研究哲学还是研究哲学史,都有必要先明了立场、视角、视界、视域、背景等理论体系的特征,其次是用好研究方法。研究的最基本的方法有三种:生态学方法、诠释法和比较研究方法。这三种方法既有各自的优点,也有其缺点,应该把它们联结起来形成系统研究方法。在运用这些方法后,才能进行价值判断。总之,对中国哲学的研究,应该坚持理性分析优先,现代批判意识其次,超越与创新再次的原则。

Philosophy comes from the history of philosophy, and the history of philosophy is the development of philosophy. We can understand this through the relation between comprehension or interpretation and foreknowledge during the course studying philosophy. The study on Chinese philosophy must combine history and theory. No matter what studied philosophy and the history of philosophy, it would be necessary that firstly clearly understand the characteristics of the theory system, such as standpoint, visual angle, visual boundary, visual field and background, etc, secondly, correctly select and use study method. The basic methods are ecological method, annotative method and comparative method, each method has its advantages and shortcomings, we should synthesize them and form systematic study method. We can judge the object’s value after we apply these methods. Therefore, the study on Chinese philosophy must firstly rationally analysis, secondly apply the researcher’s modern critical mentality, thirdly try to transcend the object and bring forth new ideas.
