“驺虞”考辨

A Textual Investigation of "Zouyu"

《诗经·召南·驺虞》篇的"驺虞",历来争讼不一。通过对《诗经》研究的历史考察,参证文献资料,并对《山海经》的资料加以辨析,认为"驺虞"是兽名,后世视其神异,解作西方之神兽"白虎",对其崇拜,同时赋予了神话传说的内容,具有原始的文化意义。

There have been a lot of discussions and different opinions on 'Zouyu' in 'The Book of Songs·Shaonan·Zouyu'. The author of this article, after studying and exploring historically 'The Book of Songs', conferring other reference books, and investigating the information in The Book of Mountains and Seas, believes that 'Zouyu' is the name of one kind of animal similar to tiger. In the history of China, People regard it as mystery and wonder and worship it, and consider it as western sanctity animal 'Baihu'. People endow it with mythological content and legend and it possesses a lot of primitive cultural meanings.
