Great attention has been paid to the study of verbal irony. The use of irony and mechanism for distinguishing irony from non-irony present a strong cognitive quality and pragmatic effects. RT.CB and the implicit display theory have their respective strengths, but they have more explanatory power when they are combined. This paper points out the guiding role of context and cognitive biasing effects explain the nature of irony.
