王通的《续诗》与《诗经》

WangTong's the Renewed Poetry and the Poetry

自孔子删《诗》之后,后儒就为之传注之学,不敢越雷池一步。惟隋末大儒王通能承圣人之业,为之《续诗》。王通认为《诗经》显示了世道兴衰之由,亦可用以修身养性;他作《续诗》的目的一是为了明王道,亦要振兴萎靡的儒学,二是要以诗歌的发展变化展示时代的变迁。同时王通对诗又有其美学认识。

Since the Poetry had been deleted by KongZi, the followed Confucianists called it the school of the annotate. They didn't dare to exceed conventional rules, as long as WangTong called the Confucianist could carry forward the good traditions of the sacred-man and renewed the Poetry. WangTong considered that the Poetry had showed the reason of the prosperous and recession world. In addition, the Poetry could also train oneselfs' temperament.He had a definite purpose to renew the Poetry. Firsty,he wanted to carry on the kingly way and promote the Confucianistan. Secondly,he wanted to observe the vicissitudes of the poem.Moreover, WangTong could understand the aesthetic value of the Poetry.
