摘要
美国著名小说家赫尔曼·麦尔维尔的代表作《白鲸》中的伦理思想是矛盾的 ,作者既忠诚于基督教 ,又反叛基督教。造成该矛盾的原因和存在的意义可以从信仰与现实、宿命论与反抗神明、博爱与隔离以及来世与现世等四个方面进行分析。
On the ethical ground Melville is a contradiction that he is both faithful and defiant to Christianity. An attempt is made to analyse the contradiction from four aspects, namely belief and reality, predestination and blaspheme, fraternity and isolation as well as next life and this life, and to probe into the causes of the contradiction and the significance of its existence to the novel.
