从存在主义的角度解读约瑟夫·康拉德的长篇小说《吉姆老爷》 ,通过对小说的结构和主人公吉姆的心理分析 ,探讨吉姆一生对真我的执着追求 ,进而揭示出小说家康拉德对追求真我的存在主义态度以及对自由、决定、行为和责任等存在主义概念的诠释。

Joseph Conrad's Lord Jim is interpreted from an existential point of view. With a structural analysis of the novel and a psychological study of the main character Jim, Jim's tormenting search for authentic self from his early sea life to his final achievement at Patusan island is traced, and a possible interpretation of Lord Jim is accordingly offered as an artistic attempt on Conrad's part to express his own existential quest for an authentic selfhood with its ensuing questions of freedom, decision, action and responsibility.
