唐代前期,安西四镇虽经多次废立,但屯田却历经多年不辍。这一过程虽然加快了边疆的开发,推动了当地农业的发展,但由于这一地区常年战乱不断,环境恶劣,加之驻军耕战并作,因而屯田的收益并不能保证解决军粮的来源。
