The science of rhetoric, an art of expressing ideas, comprises an important element in teaching advanced English. The classifications of it should be made clear first, and then come timely summaries, explanations and appreciations while teaching so that the abilities of the students in identifying and appreciating figures of speech could be improved for a solid foundation in their appreciation of the English original works, and their writing and translation abilities in future.
