摘要
本文主要研究如何运用向心理论来解析汉语中的零形回指。向心理论是一种话语阐释的计算模型,它可以考察注意状态、指称形式和推理过程的控制之间的相互关系,因其简洁而易处理,一直作为回指解析的主要算法之一。文章首先介绍了汉语中零形回指的情况,指出了汉语零形回指的类型、分类和判断规则;然后简介了向心理论模型,并在向心理论模型的基础上推导出了汉语零形回指的解析算法;最后选取了汉语自然语料进行了实证性研究。结果表明,本文推导出的算法是可行的,有效的。
The Centering Theory, a computational model of discourse interpretation that examines the relationship between attentional state, the form of referring expressions, and the control of inferential processes, has served as one of the major anaphora resolution algorithms due to its simplicity and computational tractability. Although this theory has been applied to the study of a variety of languages other than Chinese, the present study has shown that it works for Chinese as well. According to the Centering Theory, the antecedents of zero anaphors are assumed to occur in the immediately preceding utterance, but there are abundant cases contradicting this assumption. In order to account for intrasentential and long distance cases, an attempt is made in the present study to modify the theory, thus giving rise to an extended zero anaphora resolution algorithm. To test the explanatory power of this extended algorithm, an empirical study was carried out with data from current newspapers and modern literary works in Chinese. The results indicate that most zero anaphors can be successfully resolved by applying the extended algorithm.
