This paper compares the adjective collocational patterns of Chinese-speaking learners of English with those of native speakers of English on the basis of corpus data. A learner corpus ( CLEC) and English corpora of native speakers (LOB, JDEST, and COBUILD) were employed along with the concordance softwares MicroConcord and WordSmith. Besides, the statistical methods of Z-score and MI-value were adopted to measure the significance of the co-occurrence of collocates. A great discrepancy was found between Chinese learners' use of adjective collocations and the conventional use by native speakers. Evidence in this study points to three major characteristics of Chinese learners' use of adjective collocations: semantic imprecision in the use of collocates, semantic confusion of polysemous adjectives, and semantic inharmony.
